The trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou debuted on Yahoo! Movies earlier this week. The film’s so far minimal official site has gone up with better looking versions of that same trailer. It’s out in December, most likely in limited release.

Jason Schwartzman, from Wes Anderson’s Rushmore, stars in I Heart Huckabees, the new film from David O. Russell (Flirting With Disaster and Three Kings). Its trailer debuted at apple.com earlier this week. It opens in limited release on October 1st.

I have a few Gmail invites that I haven’t been able to get rid of (not for lack of trying), so if anybody is still looking for one, .

I was going to write something about Arrested Development, but this article at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette pretty much covers what I would have said.

If you don’t read the article, know that FX is showing a mini-marathon of the show starting at 2 PM Sunday, and a new episode airs at its regular time of 9:30 PM on Fox (also on Sunday).

In my opinion, AD is the funniest show currently on TV (even better than the recently concluded fourth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which I found a bit disappointing).

It’s quite possible that the show won’t return next season, so you should check it out while you can.

Update [Apr.21]: Fox just ordered new seasons of several of their shows (including 24), but there’s still no word on Arrested Development.

Update [Apr.23]: Sunday’s episode, “Not Without My Daughter”, will be the last episode of the season. The intended season finale, “Let ‘Em Eat Cake”, has been pushed back indefinitely. If there is a second season, it’ll presumably air then.

Update [May.18]: Fox won’t officially announce their fall schedule until Thursday, but Daily Variety has early word that Arrested Development has been renewed. Great news. And I haven’t been able to confirm it yet, but the proper season finale of AD might air June 6th.

Update [May.27]: Last post about this. “Let ‘Em Eat Cake” does air June 6th, but at 8:30PM. Then, at 9:30, the pilot is on. And I presume that they’ll rerun every episode until new episodes are ready. So if you’ve never seen the show before, you have another chance.

I’ll be in New York April 30 — May 09. Unlike the last two times I’ve been, this trip won’t be for business. I should have a good amount of free time if anyone has suggestions for things to do or places to check out.

Photos of my first trip to New York City are here through here.

Interestingly enough, both previous business trips mentioned above were for decorating a club for a company party. A few of those Empire State Building photos were used by me for both invitations and signs. There are photos of the actual event, but I don’t know how interesting they’ll be. Most of the signs were on light boxes and so they ended up over-exposing when shot. Basically, everywhere there’s a bright, white square, it’s either one of the Empire State Building photos or the logo for the party.

Anyway. NYC. April 30th.

I have to admit that I really didn’t care for the last season of The Sopranos. Seasons one through three were amazing; four dragged. Everything that happened in four could have been accomplished in half the number of episodes.

That being said, I’m starting to get excited for the fifth season, which debuts March 7th. One reason is that sweet photo/painting/whatever on HBO’s site [and at the top of this post]. Another is Steve Buscemi, who’s directed a couple episodes (including one of my all-time favorites, season three’s “Pine Barrens”, where Paulie and Christopher get lost in the woods), joins the on-screen cast as Tony’s cousin.

I’m going to give season four another try. I have the DVDs from Netflix and two and a half weeks to watch them, which shouldn’t be a problem (I can—and have—watch a whole season in a day).

Even if season four still sucks, I’ll be watching on the 7th.

A weird teaser for I Heart Huckabee’s, the upcoming film from David O. Russell (Three Kings, Flirting With Disaster), starring Ms. Watts, Jude Law, Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin, and Jason Schwartzman. The site has a plot synopsis, and Empire Movies has a few pictures. It’s out in October.

Flirting With Disaster, along with Trainspotting and Cop Land (which I never saw), will all have new, special edition DVDs released in June, according to Davis DVD.

Firefox, formerly Firebird, formerly Phoenix, was updated to version 0.8 today. It’s my preferred browser because of the optional Web Developer Extension (which actually doesn’t seem to install on the OS X version of Firefox, but if you installed it with Firebird, it still works) and keyword searching.

Update [Feb.12]: Okay, WDE wouldn’t install in my case because I already had a version installed, and that old version installed itself as read only. So when I tried to update from the old version to the new version, the old couldn’t be deleted so the installation failed. If you have an old version of WDE installed on OS X, find your profile folder’s chrome/ directory and chmod the webdeveloper.jar file to 644 (600 might work, too). You can then update WDE safely. Keep in mind that the new version will be installed read only, too, so you may want to chmod the new version to 644, too.
