I’ll be in New York April 30 — May 09. Unlike the last two times I’ve been, this trip won’t be for business. I should have a good amount of free time if anyone has suggestions for things to do or places to check out.

Photos of my first trip to New York City are here through here.

Interestingly enough, both previous business trips mentioned above were for decorating a club for a company party. A few of those Empire State Building photos were used by me for both invitations and signs. There are photos of the actual event, but I don’t know how interesting they’ll be. Most of the signs were on light boxes and so they ended up over-exposing when shot. Basically, everywhere there’s a bright, white square, it’s either one of the Empire State Building photos or the logo for the party.

Anyway. NYC. April 30th.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (trailer) — I never even heard of this before. Design-wise, I think it’s incredible. The color, the type, the “sets”, and machinery all work together nicely. Writer/Director Kerry Conran’s IMDb bio is interesting. I think it’s safe to assume that the program in question was used for this picture.

Saul Bass & Associates — based on material originally published in 1979, so his later work isn’t represented. But it’s better than nothing.
